Jerome Boateng has no interest in moving to the MLS with Goal boosting Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of bringing the Bayern Munich legend back to the Premier League.
Hansi Flick couldn’t resist one last dig at Bayern’s bosses.
When bidding farewell to the Bundesliga champions following Saturday’s 5-2 final day thrashing of FC Augsburg, the new Germany manager once again made it clear he feels Bayern have made a big mistake.
“Jerome was our most consistent defender this season. I could always rely on him,” Flick said.
Flick always disagreed with Bayern’s decision not to renew Boateng’s contract and release a man who recently celebrated his ninth Bundesliga title at the Allianz Arena – that much is common knowledge.

And while the 2014 World Cup-winner may be 32, whoever wins the race for the free agent’s signature will be signing an elite-level central defender who has lifted a staggering seven trophies in the past two seasons.
Did we mention Boateng has played 77 matches since the start of 2019/20? There’s plenty of life left in this old dog.
“He’s like a quarterback and has developed into a world-class player,” said Bayern teammate Thomas Muller.
According to Sky Sports, a Tottenham side crying out for a vocal presence capable of leading by example on and off the pitch has held initial talks with Boateng, a former Manchester City defender.
Goal backs those claims, pointing out one of the modern era’s finest ball-playing centre-halves has offers on the table from England, Spain and Italy.
Will ‘world-class’ Boateng join Tottenham?
Boateng’s representatives are considering a range of offers from the top level with the player showing little interest in winding down his career in the neon-lit retirement league that is the MLS.
It’s no secret Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Boateng, however.
And it remains to be seen whether Spurs’ interest was tied to Jose’s presence in the north London dugout.
