According to Le10 Sport, Paris Saint-Germain have decided not to pursue Kalidou Koulibaly, leaving Liverpool in pole position, with Newcastle United also interested in signing the Napoli central defender.

The French publication has claimed that PSG are not willing to pay the transfer fee needed to sign Koulibaly from Italian club Napoli in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are now in pole position for the 28-year-old central defender, with Newcastle also in the race for the former Genk star, according to the report.

Football in England and Italy is suspended at the moment, while Ligue 1 has already been called off, and it remains to be seen when the summer transfer window opens.

Good signing for Liverpool or Newcastle United?

Koulibaly is a very good central defender who is at the top of his game at the moment, and he would make an instant impact at Liverpool or Newcastle.

Given that the Reds are on the verge of winning the Premier League title this campaign, will play in the Champions League next season, and will challenge for trophies in the coming years, Jurgen Klopp’s side will consider themselves in a better position than the Magpies in terms of landing the Senegalese.
