Championship trio Blackburn, Brighton and Cardiff are said to have enquired about Trotters star Spearing.
Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay Spearing is the subject of enquiries from Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers, Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City, according to the Daily Mail.
Spearing, who began his career at Liverpool, has helped Bolton to four wins from four in League One so far, scoring decisive goals against Sheffield United and Bristol Rovers.
However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, the Trotters are in danger of losing their star man before next week’s transfer deadline.
New Blackburn boss Owen Coyle signed Spearing for Bolton four years ago and will be desperate to add to his squad, which currently sits bottom of the Championship table with three defeats from four.
Spearing is already familiar with Rovers, for whom he played on loan in 2015, while a move to Ewood Park would allow him to remain in his native north west.
However, the threat of a second straight relegation may deter the 27-year-old, and point him in the direction of either Cardiff or Brighton instead.
The latter, who are expected to compete for promotion this season, are likely to view Spearing as a replacement for the unsettled Dale Stephens, who HITC Sport understands refused to play in Saturday’s draw at Reading amid interest from Burnley and Crystal Palace.
