Everton continue to be linked with Wilmar Barrios.

According to FOX Sports in Argentina, Boca Juniors have launched a bid for Cruz Azul midfielder Ivan Marcone – potentially freeing up Wilmar Barrios to join Everton.
Boca have already lost Lisandro Magallan to Ajax, and are now seemingly gearing up to lose Nahitan Nandez to Italian side Cagliari in this month’s transfer window too.
Another major departure could come with Barrios, but Boca are seemingly moving quickly to find a replacement for the Colombian before he has even gone.
FOX Sports claim that Boca have submitted a bid for Cruz Azul ace Marcone, and are hoping to bring him back to Argentina.
The 28-year-old only left Lanus for the Mexican side last summer, but Boca are now expecting him to sign and come into Gustavo Alfaro’s midfield.
The report adds that, if Marcone signs, the path may be clear for Barrios to move on and join Everton, with those links seemingly refusing to go away.

Barrios, 25, has starred for Boca as a combative, pitbull-like midfielder, and he has been linked with a move to England since featuring for Colombia at the World Cup.
With rumours about Idrissa Gueye’s future, Barrios could be eyed up as a replacement for the Senegal ace, slotting into that central midfield spot – and if Marcone does go, Everton may be able to wrap up a deal for Barrios should Argentinian media be believed.
