Liverpool are already putting Bobby Duncan into first-team training.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has invited youth star Bobby Duncan to train at Melwood for the first time as he enjoys rapid progress.
The Reds may have made headlines with big-money deals for Brazilian duo Alisson and Fabinho over the summer, totalling over £100million, but they also added young talent.
Forward Duncan had dazzled with Manchester City, but had decided to move on over the summer, and it was little surprise when he joined Liverpool.
Born on Merseyside and a cousin of Steven Gerrard, Duncan was touted for a move to Liverpool for some time, and the Reds struck a £200,000 deal in June, as noted by The Telegraph.
Duncan has made a strong start to life with Liverpool, notching five goals and three assists in six appearances for Liverpool’s Under-18’s, and his form appears to have caught Klopp’s attention.
The Mirror report that Duncan has already been invited to train at Melwood for the first time this week, joining first-team training ahead of Liverpool’s game against Huddersfield Town this weekend.
Duncan won’t be in contention for this weekend’s game, far from it, and his inclusion may simply be down to a host of Liverpool players being away on international duty and therefore not in Liverpool training.
However, with Duncan given that early call-up to senior training, it shows that the 17-year-old is turning heads already – and if he can become a first-team star, £200,000 will be a bargain.
