The Blackpool boss is the latest to emerge in Barnsley’s sights, according to one report.
Blackpool’s Gary Bowyer is on the shortlist to become the next Barnsley manager, the Daily Mirror reports [15th February printed edition, page 56].
Barnsley are still seeking Paul Heckingbottom’s successor, more than a week after he was prised away from Oakwell.
Reports have linked them with moves for bosses such as Jack Ross [St Mirren] and Cameron Toshack [Swansea City Under-23s] over the past few days.
And Bowyer would be another attractive option for the Tykes, having turned Blackpool around following successive relegations.
The former Rotherham United defender led the Seasiders to promotion via the League Two play-offs last season, and currently has them 17th in the third tier.
Bowyer previously led Blackburn Rovers to eighth- and ninth-placed Championship finishes under difficult circumstances.
Barnsley – who signed Blackpool star man Brad Potts last summer – are currently 22nd in the standings, a point adrift of safety.
