According to a report form the Sun (live transfer blog, 11:36), Blackpool are in talks to sign Liverpool starlet Matty Virtue.

The 21-year-old is a deep-lying midfielder by trade, but he can also operate at right-back.

Virtue has scored 12 goals in 51 appearances for Liverpool’s developmental side.

The Sun claims that Blackpool want the Reds starlet, and are prepared to offer the youngster a two-and-a-half year deal.

The League One club currently sit in eighth spot in the table, and are in desperate need of reinforcements, as they look to make a push for the play-off spots during the second half of the season.

Virtue would undoubtedly be a useful addition to Terry McPhillips’ side, especially considering his experience of being involved with a club the size of Liverpool.

One big question mark hanging over the Reds ace’s head will be whether or not he is physically ready to cut it in League One, what with its robust nature, but there is only one way to find that out.
