Derby County’s Calum MacDonald has been linked with Blackpool.

According to the Derby Telegraph, Derby County youngster Calum MacDonald is set to join Blackpool on loan.
The 21-year-old who is capable of playing at both left-back and centre-back came through the Derby academy and enjoyed a loan spell at non-league Barrow three seasons ago.
MacDonald has yet to make a senior appearance for the Rams, with a spot in the first-team blocked by the likes of Scott Malone, Craig Forsyth and Max Lowe who are all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Previous manager Frank Lampard named the youngster on the substitutes bench several times last season as Derby suffered an injury crisis at left-back, including a spot in the squad for the Championship playoff final.
But MacDonald lacks experience at senior level, and at 21 now seems the ideal time to send him on loan to a team competing within the top four divisions of the football league.
MacDonald’s absence from the U23 development squad this season suggests he is being kept fresh for a loan move, and League One Blackpool have reportedly emerged as suitors for the player.

Despite the transfer window closing, Championship clubs can still loan players to League One and Two clubs and Blackpool have until the end of August to strengthen their squad.
The Tangerines have made a great start to the season, winning three of their four games as they top the league. It’s a great opportunity for MacDonald to further his development as he seeks a long-term spot in Derby’s XI.
