Blackburn’s reported offer falls far below the Columbus Crew’s valuation, though.
Tony Mowbray has been somewhat subdued in the transfer market this summer, despite gaining promotion back to England’s second division after finishing second in League One last May.
But he has recently stepped up work in bringing players in, this week confirming a move to sign Adam Armstrong on a permanent basis for Newcastle United after a strong loan spell during the second half of 2017-18.
He becomes Blackburn’s fourth summer signing, with Kasey Palmer and Jove Davenport joining on loan from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City. Joe Rothwell has joined the club from Oxford United.
But Mowbray has now reportedly gone further afield in a bid to make his next signing, as he looks to lure Trapp to Ewood Park from MLS side Colombus Crew – tabling the seven-figure offer.
Trapp has a superb reputation in the MLS, with the 25-year-old making 162 appearances for The Crew and captaining the side in all of his 19 appearances this term. It has since seen him captain America in four of the country’s last five games.
However, a move is still somewhat far apart, with the report claiming Colombus value their skipper at £2.3million – more than double what Blackburn have offered. It remains to be seen if the two sides can come to a valuation.
