According to the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 9:21 am), Birmingham City are interested in signing Brentford full-back Maxime Colin on deadline day.

The Blues have been busy during this window, but appear to have focused much of their attention on raiding their Championship rivals during the final hours before the deadline.

Jota of Brentford scores the second Brentford goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and QPR at Griffin Park on April 22, 2017 in Brentford, England.

Harlee Dean was signed earlier this week, while Jota appears set to be the second Brentford player to swap Griffin Park for St Andrew’s, with the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (6:56 am) suggesting that the Blues had agreed a deal worth £6 million for the Spaniard.

But Jota may not be the last player Dean Smith loses to Birmingham – if that deal does indeed go through – with the Mail also suggesting Harry Redknapp has also made an enquiry regarding Colin’s availability.

Colin featured prominently last term, and has remained an important player for the side this season, so it remains to be seen how willing Smith is to allow him to move on.

If he and Jota do follow Dean and leave for Birmingham, it is surely fair to suggest that the Bees fans will be urging the club to spend the final hours of the window looking to reinvest the money in the squad as they look to recover from their slow start to the new season.
