Birmingham are keen on signing Preston striker and former Sunderland target Jordan Hugill.
It is believed that Preston have already rejected a £2.5m bid from the Blues for the striker, but they are prepared to come back with an improved offer as manager Harry Redknapp looks to add to his options upfront.

The Chronicle previously reported that Sunderland were interested in Hugill, with their manager Simon Grayson looking to bring the 25-year-old with him to the Stadium of Light after leaving the Lilywhites.
However, while the Lancashire club were firm with their stance of not selling the forward then, it seems they are now open to him leaving if they can find a replacement.
Redknapp has previously publicly declared his admiration for Hugill, who scored 13 goals in all competitions last season.
With Che Adams, Clayton Donaldson and Lukas Jutkiewicz as his current attackers at St Andrew’s, the 70-year-old now wants to add the former Port Vale man to the roster.
