Birmingham City are plotting a late bid for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Charlie Mulgrew.

Mulgrew has been a fantastic player for Blackburn during his time at Ewood Park, often proving to be, by far, their best player during their hugely disappointing season in the Championship last year and maintaining his form in League One.

The 31-year-old tops their scoring charts in the third tier with 11 goals in 26 league appearances, and he is now attracting interest from elsewhere.

However, The Sun on Sunday adds that Blackburn – who are battling for promotion this term – are likely to do all they can to try and keep Mulgrew, so Birmingham face an uphill battle trying to make a late deal happen.
Birmingham face an absolutely massive game next up as they take on fellow strugglers Sunderland on Tuesday one day before the transfer deadline, while Blackburn could move into the automatic-promotion spots on the same night if they manage to beat Walsall.
