Report: Birmingham ‘expect’ Southampton bid for Che Adams

Southampton are reportedly interested in the Birmingham City striker.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63), Birmingham ‘expect’ a bid from Southampton for Che Adams during the final days of the January transfer window.

Adams has been superb in the Championship this term. The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals in the league to leave Garry Monk’s side on the periphery of the play-off discussion, with the Blues seven points back of sixth-place Derby.

But it appears that he may not be at St Andrew’s for much longer. The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63) reports that Southampton are considering a move for the £10 million-rated forward this month, and Birmingham may not be in the financial position to turn down an eight-figure bid for their key man.

The Saints appear to have turned a goalscoring corner under Ralph Hasenhuttl. They have actually found the back of the net eight times in their last four games, and have only failed to score on one occasion since Hasenhuttl’s first game in charge.

Nevertheless, they remain amongst the lowest scorers in the Premier League. Danny Ings is their only player to have scored more than three times in the top flight this term.
