Birmingham City could reportedly look to make a permanent move for Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner – if they are allowed.

Gardner was one of the few additions that Garry Monk was able to make during the summer as he arrived at St Andrew’s from the Blues’ rivals on loan after 13 years on Villa’s books. He, of course, followed the same path as his brother by moving across the city.
And his loan spell has arguably been a success for Birmingham. Gardner has played 14 times in the Championship, scoring once for Garry Monk’s men to help them into a mid-table position after a very poor start.

It will probably come as no surprise to Villa fans that Gardner’s future appears to lie elsewhere. He has made one league appearance for his parent club since the end of the 2012/13 campaign and Dean Smith is unlikely to be unhappy with his current midfield options.
A permanent move to Birmingham certainly seems to suit all parties, so perhaps it should be little surprise if an agreement is quickly reached when the two clubs are able to discuss the situation.
