The Swedish international would be a coup of a signing for the Championship side.

Birmingham City are reportedly interested in Palermo attacking midfielder Robin Quaison.

Today the Birmingham Mail reports that Gianfranco Zola is hopeful of signing the Swede from Serie A side Palermo.

It would be an ambitious move from Birmingham, especially considering their competition in the race for his signature. The report claims that Sampdoria and AS Roma are also keen on the player.

Quaison is out of contract at the Italian club in the summer and the interested parties are hopeful of bringing him in now on the cheap or successfully negotiating a pre-contract agreement for the summer.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wing, has been at Palermo since 2014 and has been a regular in the side so far this season. He has scored four goals in 16 appearances in Serie A. He also has five caps for his country and has scored two goals, so Birmingham are being ambitious in their swoop for the player.

But the club have new finance and are hopeful of adding some new stars to the mix for a potential play-off push in the coming months.

Quaison is one such target.
