Birmingham City and Middlesbrough are both said to be after Chelsea attacking midfielder Lewis Baker.

According to the Daily Mail, Birmingham City are competing with Middlesbrough for Lewis Baker of Chelsea.

Baker may be allowed out on loan by Chelsea this season, and Birmingham and Boro are both keen to give him a new home.

Boro’s enquiry is actually to take Baker for the next two seasons, but Blues boss Harry Redknapp is also keen to add the attacking midfielder.

Baker has struggled for game time at Chelsea, but impressed for England’s under-21 side over the summer.

The play maker, who is comfortable with both feet, has spent the last two seasons on loan in Holland with Vitesse, and he has impressed in the Eredivisie.

If Baker was to move to Boro he would be another notable addition for Garry Monk’s side.

Birmingham, meanwhile, are keen to add Baker, with Redknapp known to be hunting new additions.

The Blues have been frustrated with their summer business to date, but Baker could offer them an increase in creativity.
