A reunion between Slaven Bilic and Andre Ayew at West Bromwich Albion could be on the cards, according to Ghanasoccernet.
Bilic signed Ayew from Swansea City – the club to whom the 30-year-old has since returned – in a £21.5 million deal whilst manager of West Ham United, and the pair are said to have maintained a ‘good relationship’.
It is claimed that the Croatian hopes to use that, along with the incentive of ‘being a leader’ in his West Brom team, to lure his former player away from Swansea.
While the Championship side ‘will be desperate to hold on to’ Ayew – who top scored for them with 18 goals last season – they ‘will not stand on his way’ of a return to the Premier League, as the ‘clock ticks’ on his career, according to Ghanasoccernet.
And it is said that Swansea would consider loaning him to a top flight club such as West Brom to help reduce their wage bill – although, with Ayew’s contract due to expire next summer, that could harm their chances of recouping much of the £20.5m fee they paid to West Ham two-and-a-half years ago.
The former Marseille striker is the latest in his position to be linked with a move to West Brom, who have yet to add to their options since being promoted last season.
Two of their existing ones, Kenneth Zohore and Charlie Austin, have been linked with moves back to the Championship, although it remains to be seen if either could be used as part of a deal for Ayew.
