According to The Sun, West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is ready to intervene as the club attempt to seal a new contract for teenager Reece Oxford.
The Hammers have been having a torrid time on the pitch this season, and their defensive woes have led many fans to call for Oxford to be given a chance.

The 17-year-old starred against Arsenal on the opening weekend of last season, but has barely featured under Bilic since – despite being one of English football’s brightest young prospects.
One of the problems surrounding Oxford is his contract, as his current deal expires at the end of next season, and West Ham unsurprisingly want him to commit his future to the club.

So far, talks have reached an impasse – and The Sun report that manager Bilic is now ready to step in and intervene in a bid to get a new contract for Oxford finalised.
Bilic is allegedly urging the West Ham board to give Oxford the new deal he wants in a bid to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

It’s claimed that West Ham rejected a bid from United over the summer, and the Hammers subsequently promised him a greater role in the Hammers first-team this season.
However, Oxford is now believed to be frustrated at his current role, and first-team football is one of the hold-ups in an agreement over a new contract – and Bilic is now allegedly set to intervene to finally get a deal over the line.
