Leeds United are reportedly tracking Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, with Marcelo Bielsa eager to bring the Welsh international to Elland Road on loan in the January window.
According to CalcioMercato, the Argentine coach is a fan of the former Arsenal star and is keen to sign the midfielder. Ramsey looks set to leave Juventus in 2022. And a return to the Premier League seems the most likely destination, with Leeds now interested in the 30-year-old.
As per the report, Juventus want to offload Ramsey in an attempt to lower their wage bill. The midfield dynamo earns a reported £175,000-a-week with the Serie A giants. And given his lack of playing time, a transfer seems imminent in January.
It’s not just Leeds who are keen on Ramsey, though. As per the report, Everton and Newcastle United retain an interest in the ex-Cardiff City star, with former club Arsenal also being touted as potential suitors for the Welshman.
Indeed, a move to Leeds could be momentous for the Yorkshire club. However, Ramsey’s wages could break the structure currently in place at the club, with no player currently earning over £100,000-a-week if reports are to be believed.
But, with Bielsa a fan of Ramsey and the midfielder available to leave in January, a move for the 30-year-old could well be possible. Especially if the Whites can find a way to loan in Ramsey for the second half of the season.
Ramsey move is risky for Leeds, but it could pay off

Injuries and a lack of fitness have been ever-present themes for Ramsey during his spell in Italy, and if there was ever a club to bring the talismanic Welsh star back to his best, it’s Leeds under Bielsa.
Indeed, the partnership could work wonders given Ramsey’s qualities as a box-to-box midfielder. However, the finances of such a move could be damaging to Leeds in the long term. And with silverware unlikely this campaign, even convincing the Juve star to join would be hard in the grand scheme of things.
The transfer isn’t impossible, though. And given the other clubs reportedly interested in Ramsey, Leeds by far and away present the most interesting project given the quality of the squad and the man heading the ship in Bielsa.
