According to RedGol in Chile, Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa now wants to lure Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton to Elland Road.

Leeds are being linked with a host of players ahead of their second season back in the Premier League, but Victor Orta is yet to make a move.

A new striker may be on the radar, offering support to Patrick Bamford whilst allowing Rodrigo to play as more of a number 10.

Leeds chase Brereton deal?

It’s now stated back in Chile that Bielsa wants to lure Brereton to Leeds, and has actually admired him for two years having faced him in the Championship.

The report adds that Leeds and Blackburn have ‘positive relations’, which may just help Leeds pull off a big deal for Brereton this summer.

Bielsa is believed to have people watching Brereton over in South America, as he has been playing for Chile at this summer’s Copa America thanks to his mother – despite being born in Stoke!

How did Brereton fare last season?

The 22-year-old forward recorded seven goals and four assists in 40 Championship games, starting to repay his £7million fee after previously scoring twice in 40 games for Blackburn.

At 6ft 2in tall and possessing great pace, Brereton has the athletic traits you look for in a striker, but now needs to put it all together – which could happen under Bielsa.

Brereton bagged his first Chile goal in a 1-0 win against Bolivia earlier this month, and Leeds boss Bielsa is seemingly so impressed that he is preparing a move.
