According to The Mirror, Marcelo Bielsa has yet to make a decision on the future of Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi.
It’s noted that Berardi hasn’t played a single game since a major knee injury last summer, and he then became a free agent.
Leeds did bring him back for another year in order to allow him to recover in familiar surroundings, but his deal is coming to an end.
Whilst Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas are set to go at the end of their contracts, there hasn’t yet been a call made on Berardi.
The 32-year-old has been with Leeds for almost seven years now having arrived from Sampdoria in the summer of 2014.
With more than 150 appearances for the club, Berardi has been a popular figure in recent years and a valuable presence in the squad, with Bielsa praising him as ‘very important’ last season.

Leeds have to make a sensible decision here though, and if Berardi isn’t going to play again after his major injury, they may need to let him go.
Berardi does offer the versatility to play anywhere across the back four, which could be valuable to Bielsa, but a tough decision could be on the horizon.
