According to SPORT, Barcelona defender Junior Firpo wanted to join AC Milan – but has been convinced by Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta to join Leeds United instead.
Firpo emerged as a promising left back with Real Betis, and it was no surprise to see him make a huge move to Barcelona in 2019.
It hasn’t really worked out for Firpo at Barca though, and after just 24 league appearances for the club, he is expected to move to Leeds.
Firpo picks Leeds move
The report claims that Firpo was looking to make the move to AC Milan this summer, as they have been chasing him for some time.
Despite that stance, Firpo has now been convinced to join Leeds instead having been impressed by their desire to sign him.
Firpo has allegedly been ‘reluctant’ to play in the Premier League, but Bielsa and Orta have personally convinced him that he will play a key role at Leeds.
Talks with Milan are now off, with Firpo making it clear that he wants the move to Elland Road after all, which will cost around €15million (£13million).

Leeds may end up being better
The 24-year-old may have preferred Milan over West Yorkshire, but he will play a much more important role at Leeds.
Milan already have Theo Hernandez at left back, and Firpo isn’t going to take his place in the team any time soon.
With Ezgjan Alioski set to leave, Firpo should play regularly at Leeds, and that’s ultimately what he needs after two years as Barca’s backup left back.
