Stuttgart have told Borna Sosa that he’s free to leave for £21 million with Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur battling Barcelona for the Bundesliga star, according to Kicker

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of attacking full-back.

Ones who wreak havoc by the byline, dovetail with their team-mates while darting into the penalty area. Jordi Alba, for instance. And others who are capable of dominating a flank all on their own, putting crosses on a sixpence from any range and any angle. The Leighton Baines’ of the world.

Sosa certainly belongs to the latter category.

Stuttgart’s Croatia international is arguably the best crosser of a ball in Germany, if not Europe, though Trent Alexander-Arnold may have something to say about that.

Comparisons with David Beckham should tell you all you need to know about a man who’s produced 16 assists since the start of last season, forming a fearsome partnership with 6ft 7ins centre-forward Sasa Kalajdzic.

According to BILD, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are just two of the clubs who have shown an interest. Sosa looks tailor-made for Antonio Conte’s wing-back system.

The London giants will face competition from Barcelona, however, after the La Liga giants sent scouts to watch the Croatia international in the flesh recently.

Is Borna Sosa heading to the Premier League?

Kicker state that, as yet, there are no ‘concrete offers’ for Sosa. But relegation-threatened Stuttgart have a ‘verbal agreement’ with the former Dinamo Zagreb youngster that he will be allowed to leave for a fee of £21 million.

“I can tell you that I was very, very close to leaving last winter,” Sosa told Kicker recently.

“However, the club decided not to let me go. But I got a promise. If I get a satisfactory offer in the summer, I can leave.

“We agreed to find the best solution together. But I say, I’m still in Stuttgart, we’ll see what opens in the summer.”

A move to Barcelona will surely hold plenty of appeal. But, given the choice, Sosa would jump at the chance to join a Premier League club in the upcoming transfer window.

“(The Premier League) I would say is by far the strongest league,” adds the one-time Aston Villa target. “And it is clear that the goal of every footballer is to play in the strongest leagues in the world.

“Definitely, I have a great desire to play in the Premiership.”
