It is believed a deal for Liverpool’s Karius will be a loan move.
French outlet RMC Sport have claimed on their live transfer blog (Monday, 3:53pm) that Besiktas and Liverpool are confident of agreeing a two-year loan deal for goalkeeper Loris Karius.
The 25-year-old stopper is expected to be available for a loan deal this summer with just over a week remaining in the window, after the German goalkeeper suffered a dismal run of form towards the end of the season.
He made two huge errors in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, being dispossessed by Karim Benzema before dropping Gareth Bale’s long-range effort. His mistakes continued throughout pre-season.
Some reports have suggested that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp prefers Simon Mignolet as his back-up goalkeeper to summer signing Alisson, who joined the club from AS Roma for a whopping £66.7million.
A deal between Besiktas and Liverpool could be struck for former Mainz goalkeeper Karius could be struck, then, with the Turkish side looking to sign a goalkeeper after selling Fabri to newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham.
The report claims Liverpool and Besiktas have reached an agreement for the goalkeeper to move to Besiktas until the summer of 2020, but it remains to convince 6ft 2in Karius over a move to Turkey.
