West Ham reportedly made an offer to sign Bernard from Shakhtar earlier this week.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has reported on his official website that Brazilian magician Bernard has opted to reject West Ham United, after the Premier League side made a move to land the playmaker on a free.
The 25-year-old’s contract with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donestk is set to expire this weekend, which encouraged West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini to make an offer for the 15-time Brazil international.

Former Manchester City manager Pellegrini tried to sign Bernard during his time at Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune, however, he failed to tempt the Brazilian with a move.

Now at West Ham, Pellegrini has been turned down a second time by Bernard, and is now expected to listen to offers from the Chinese Super League.

Bernard remains one of the best playmakers currently plying their trade outside of Europe’s biggest leagues, and scored an impressive 10 goals in 29 league and cup outings from the left flank.
He has racked up three league wins with Shakhtar – two of those coming in the last two seasons – as well as three Ukrainian Cups and two Ukrainian Super Cups, which is practically the same as the Community Shield.
The Hammers will go back to the drawing board, as it remains to be seen whether they will up their offer for Bernard. The club have already brought in Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks, while talks continue for Felipe Anderson.
