According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton wide man Bernard rejected a move to Roma after receiving reassurance about his role.
Roma wanted to sign Bernard on deadline day, with the Italian side making a formal enquiry to sign him.
That was no great surprise; Roma boss Paulo Fonseca worked with Bernard at Shakhtar Donetsk, with the winger bagging 17 goals in 66 games under Fonseca.
Bernard headed to England in 2018, but his playing time has been gradually waning, with no Premier League starts this season.
However, Carlo Ancelotti allegedly made it clear that Bernard is wanted at Goodison Park, which convinced Bernard to stay.
Everton had been open to offers if Bernard was guaranteed first-team football, and Roma were putting £7million on the table.
Ancelotti managed to convince Bernard to stay though, and it may well be that the Brazilian now weighs up his future over the coming months.
It’s only three months until the January transfer window, so if Bernard doesn’t get playing time before then, don’t be surprised to see the rumours return.
