Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on Said Benrahma.

According to The Express, Brentford winger Said Benrahma is set to join Aston Villa, whilst Neal Maupay – a Villa target according to the Birmingham Mail – will head to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Bees have mastered the transfer market in recent years, bringing in talented young players and selling them on for huge profit.

Daniel Bentley, Ezri Konsa and Romaine Sawyers have moved on this summer, and a host of others names have been linked away from Griffin Park.

Now, it’s claimed that top goalscorer Maupay will have a medical with Brighton, meaning he won’t be heading to Villa, but teammate Benrahma reportedly will be.

Brentford are spending some of the cash on Legia Warsaw’s teenage attacker Sandro Kulenovic to replace Maupay, whilst the club have already signed Piast Gliwice winger Joel Valencia – possibly to replace Benrahma.

Benrahma, 23, hit 10 goals and 14 assists in his first Championship season having joined from Nice last summer, becoming one of the division’s most creative and exciting wide men.

Sandro Kulenovic of Croatia looks on during the 2019 UEFA U-21 Group C match between Croatia and England at San Marino Stadium on June 24, 2019 in Serravalle, Italy.

The Algerian was signed under Dean Smith, and the pair will reunite if a deal goes through, whilst he’ll also join Konsa at Villa Park.

A deal for a winger has looked likely since Villa let Andre Green go on loan to Preston, and adding another player who knows Smith – just like Konsa and Jota – is a smart move from the newly-promoted side.

Saïd Benrahma of Brentford scores their 5th goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and Hull City at Griffin Park on February 23, 2019 in Brentford, England.
