Newcastle United are reportedly keen on both Joe Bryan and Federico Fernandez.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is pursuing Swansea City cenre back Federico Fernandez and Bristol City left back Joe Bryan.

The Magpies have made three signings this summer in Martin Dubravka, Ki Sung-yueng and the loan deal for Kenedy, but manager Rafael Benitez has been given very little to spend.

That has created a stand-off between the Spaniard and owner Mike Ashley, as Benitez won’t commit to a new contract until he is given a clear sign of Ashley’s spending intentions, and Ashley won’t guarantee funds until Benitez signs a new deal.

Now, The Sun report that Ashley is willing to hand Benitez a new deal and a transfer kitty of £100million over the next three years; not a huge outlay, but still some sort of commitment.

It’s also added that Benitez is working on two potential deals for Newcastle, as he wants to bring in Bristol City’s Joe Bryan and Swansea City’s Federico Fernandez in a double raid on the Championship.

Left back Bryan will allegedly be the subject of a £6million bid from Newcastle, with Benitez keen to land him as competition for Paul Dummett at left back and even Kenedy on the left of midfielder.

Bristol City would surely ask for more than just £6million given that Bryan is one of the top left backs in the Championship, whilst Newcastle may well move for Fernandez too.

The 29-year-old Argentinian – who played in the 2014 World Cup – could move on after Swansea’s relegation to the Championship, and whilst he is valued at just £6million, it’s claimed that Newcastle are hoping to take him on loan as competition for Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune.
