Despite his poor recent form, Napoli boss Rafa Benitez seems to be a wanted man.
Napoli have made a disappointing start to the season, but their coach Rafa Benitez is still being linked to two former clubs – Liverpool and Valencia.
Benitez inspired an excellent 2013-14 campaign from Napoli, who finished third in Serie A and lifted the Italian Cup.
But things haven’t gone so smoothly this season with an immediate Champions League elimination being followed by some inconsistent league form,
While some sources have suggested that Benitez could even be fired, others believe that Napoli are fighting hard to try and tie the Spaniard down.
Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is scared that Liverpool may woo Benitez should Brendan Rodgers get the sack.
Benitez is still a hero with many Liverpool fans after winning the Champions League in dramatic fashion in 2005 while Rodgers’ credit earned from last season is quickly eroding.
Even if Napoli continue to struggle, it seems the Italian outfit will attempt to safeguard their coach as they know he remains highly sought after.
