According to Ovacion in Uruguay, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has asked about a possible deal for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.

Islam Slimani got the start in attack but didn’t impress, whilst Dwight Gayle and Joselu haven’t proven themselves as goalscorers, meaning a new striker may be a top priority this summer.
Now, Ovacion in Uruguay report that Newcastle want to land Hull City striker Abel Hernandez, and manager Rafael Benitez has asked about a possible deal.
It’s unclear whether Benitez has asked the player’s representatives or the Newcastle hierarchy, but he is allegedly keen to lure the Uruguayan international hitman to St James’ Park this summer.
Hernandez, 27, has missed most of the season through injury but has now hit eight goals in just 10 Championship outings this season having worked his way back to fitness.
The problem for Hull is that Hernandez is out of contract this summer and will become a free agent, with Newcastle seemingly looking to land themselves a bargain.
The former Palermo man hasn’t always impressed in the Premier League, hitting just eight goals across his two top-flight campaigns, but with 20 Championship goals in the 2015-16 campaign and other eight in just 10 outings this term, Hernandez does appear to have a goalscoring touch.
