According to the Daily Mail, Rafael Benitez intends to bring Paco De Miguel to Everton as their new fitness coach.

Everton’s search for a new manager finally appears to be coming to an end having lost Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid earlier this month.

Fans may not like it, but the new man will seemingly be Benitez, who previously managed Everton’s bitter rivals Liverpool.

Benitez wants De Miguel at Everton

As if one ex-Liverpool man wasn’t enough for Everton fans to swallow, Benitez is already planning to bring De Miguel with him.

De Miguel would take on the role as fitness coach at Everton, a position he held at Liverpool under Benitez for six years.

The pair have been inseparable for more than 15 years now, working together at Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Dalian Pro.

What has Benitez said about De Miguel?

Benitez noted in the 2016-17 season that De Miguel controlled training seasons at Newcastle United, and you can assume he would do the same at Everton.

The 48-year-old is clearly one of Benitez’s most trusted lieutenants, and can now expect a key role at Everton.

De Miguel even filled in for Benitez in a game at Swansea City back in 2017, again summing up his importance to his fellow Spaniard as they prepare to join forces again.
