Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson is reportedly on the radar of Benfica.

According to Calciomercato.com, Benfica are interested in signing Pontus Jansson from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United spell

Jansson has been on the books of Championship club Leeds since 2016 when he joined on loan from Torino before making the deal permanent for a transfer fee reported by The Express to be worth £3.5 million.

The Sweden international central defender is a very good player and is one of the best in his position in the Championship.

The 28-year-old is a key player in head Marcelo Bielsa’s side, and he is very popular among the Elland Road faithful.

According to WhoScored, the centre-back made 37 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process.

Benfica are a massive club and a giant of Portuguese football, and they will also play in the Champions League next season.

Bruno Lage’s side won the Primeira Liga title by just two points this season and will feature in the Champions League group stage during the 2019-20 campaign.
