West Ham United were pursuing Joao Felix last month.

West Ham United may have been busy in the summer transfer window, but they did miss out on a deal for Benfica talent Joao Felix.
The Hammers splashed out on the likes of Issa Diop, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson, but they sit bottom of the Premier League table with no points from four games.
A major summer recruitment drive hasn’t helped the club at all, though one of the targets they missed out on is thriving away from the London Stadium.
As reported by Sky Sports, West Ham wanted to bring in Benfica playmaker Joao Felix, but couldn’t finalise a deal for one of the top young talents in Portugal.
Since then, the 18-year-old has featured in five Benfica first-team games this season, and even scored a dramatic late equaliser in the huge Lisbon derby against Sporting.

Now, Record report that Benfica intend to give Felix a new deal, and it would include a staggering €120million (£107million) release clause, as Benfica look to secure the teenager’s future.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes is believed to be playing a major part in the contract talks, and the young midfielder looks set to forget all about West Ham’s interest and commit his long-term future to the Portuguese giants.
