The Liverpool star is out of contract this summer and could leave on a free transfer.

According to a report from Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Liverpool ace Alberto Moreno is a target for Benfica this summer.

The 26-year-old joined the Reds from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth £12 million, according to BBC Sport, and he has gone on to make 141 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.

Moreno’s contract with Liverpool is due to expire in the summer, however, and as things stand, it seems as though he will not be offered a new deal.

The Spaniard is behind Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez and even James Milner in the left-back pecking order at Anfield, so a move away this summer would seem to suit all parties involved.

Portuguese publication A Bola claims that Benfica want to sign Moreno as a potential replacement for Alex Grimaldi, who is being heavily linked with an exit from the club.

Whilst losing a player for nothing is never a nice thing, the former Sevilla man is probably one player who is certainly dispensable at Liverpool.
