Arsenal central defender Ben White has been ruled out of today’s game against London rivals Chelsea having come down with an illness.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that White will not be part of the Arsenal squad for today’s big game at the Emirates Stadium.

White is described as being ‘unwell’, and won’t be included in Arsenal’s match day squad.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both missed last week’s defeat to Brentford with illness, with White now missing out for similar reasons.

It’s unclear whether this is anything to do with COVID-19, but after all the talk of White facing Romelu Lukaku, that won’t happen.

White struggled with the physicality of Ivan Toney last week, and some felt that Lukaku would have his way with White today.

This isn’t ideal for Mikel Arteta though, as his big £50million summer signing will be on the sidelines for a massive game.

Rob Holding will be looking to come straight into the side in place of White, whilst there is a chance Arteta goes to a three-man back line to match up with Chelsea and cope with White’s absence.
