According to the Liverpool Echo, Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey wants to make the move to Everton after a bid was made.
The Telegraph reported on Wednesday evening that Everton have submitted an offer worth £20million rising to £26million with add-ons.
The Toffees then beat West Ham United in the Carabao Cup, but the focus now turns back to the transfer market, with Godfrey wanted.
The 22-year-old is ‘hopeful’ that Everton will strike a deal with Norwich, and the report notes that he is now Everton’s first-choice centre back target.
Everton need to clear the decks to fund a deal, as it seems that Norwich aren’t particularly open to letting Godfrey leave on loan with a view to a full-time move.
Godfrey, formerly of York City, was a holding midfielder before being converted to play as more of a centre back under Daniel Farke.

He was vital in Norwich’s promotion-winning campaign back in 2019, and made a total of 30 Premier League appearances last season.
A quick and technically-impressive defender, Godfrey was picked as a player with ‘huge potential’ by Rio Ferdinand back in January, which Everton fans will love to hear.
Having spent on three players over 28 in Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez, investing in a talented young centre back like Godfrey now makes perfect sense – and it seems the player himself wants the move.
