According to the Liverpool Echo, Ben Davies started alongside Nathaniel Phillips in a Liverpool training game on Saturday.
An internal training match took place at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, featuring players who haven’t gone on international duty.
First-team players Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Fabinho were all in action, but this was a day for fringe players and youngsters.
Ben Woodburn stole the show with a hat-trick, whilst Kaide Gordon and Rhys Williams also scored in a 5-1 final scoreline.
The team that lost 5-1 had a new centre back pairing as Nathaniel Phillips partnered Ben Davies – though they would have no doubt wanted a better afternoon.
Davies, 25, joined Liverpool on deadline day last month, but has yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds since arriving from Preston North End.

Some have wondered why Davies hasn’t been given a chance, especially given the centre back issues Jurgen Klopp has been forced to deal with.
He was at least given a chance to shine on Saturday, and whilst it ended in defeat, he will hope to have done enough to impress Klopp.
