Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is playing his final season at the club in the belief of many at the Emirates Stadium.

That’s according to ESPN, who claim that sources at Arsenal increasingly believe this is Leno’s last season with the Gunners.

That would explain why Arsenal just decided to agree a £30million deal to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.

Ramsdale will start as backup to Leno, but the price of the deal indicates that Arsenal see him as their long-term first-choice stopper.

Arsenal may have wanted to sell Leno next summer and didn’t want to then be forced into signing a replacement when everybody knows they have money to spend.

Leno, 29, joined Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2018, paying £22million to bring him to North London.

The German has endured a mixed time at Arsenal, turning in some great performance whilst also leaving Gunners fans frustrated.

With two years left on his contract, next summer is realistically Arsenal’s last chance to sell Leno, and it’s no surprise to hear that he could be leaving.
