Leeds United are still keen on signing Daniel James, even after Raphina arrives, BBC Sport have claimed (08:29).

Leeds are set to bring in Raphina from Rennes today in a deal with around £17 million.

The Brazilian should strengthen Leeds’ attack, but it seems that Marcelo Bielsa still wants more additions in that area.

James, who was hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Macus Rashford (Daily Mail), is a long-term target of the Whites, and it is thought that they could launch a bid for the Manchester United man before the close of play today.

If James was to arrive then he would add speed to Leeds’ attack, and give them some fierce competition for places.

With Rodrigo signed and Raphina joining, Leeds already look well stocked going forward, but James could really add to the depth available to Bielsa.

The likes of Helder Costa, Ian Poveda and Jack Harrison have all started the season well, but Leeds’ transfer plans are highly ambitious, and would allow Bielsa to rotate his front-line as the season progressed.

If James does join Leeds he will do so with a point to prove.

The Welsh international made a blistering start to life at Old Trafford, but his progress has stalled since, and some question marks have formed over his ability to perform at the very top level.
