Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara first noted Bayern Munich’s willingness to sell him at the start of the summer, the Times report.

Bayern were linked with a move for Kai Havertz a few months back, and at that stage it was Thiago who was tipped to be the player to be sold to raise funds for the Bayer Leverkusen attacker.

Thiago apparently was aware of the board’s willingness to sell him, and that is what has made him so reluctant to pen new terms, amid Liverpool’s interest.

Thiago is one of the finest talents on the ball in world football, but some at Bayern have their doubts about him.

There are members of the German’s champions board who apparently see Thiago as a bit of a luxury player, who can go missing in tough games.

Those characteristics certainly wouldn’t fit in at Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s side one of the toughest sides to beat in the Premier League.

Liverpool have almost always found a way through games were they have been forced to battle in recent seasons, and no such accusations can be directed at any member of their current squad.

Klopp, though, doesn’t seem to have any concerns about Thiago in that regard.

The Liverpool boss is thought to rate the 29-year-old highly, but he is yet to be backed with the funds needed to bring him to Anfield.
