Bayern Munich want to beat Tottenham to the signing of Jeremy Toljan.

Bayern Munich are set to battle with Tottenham Hotspur over the signature of Jeremy Toljan.

The full-back has only one year remaining on his current contract at Hoffenheim and the Bundesliga champions want to add him to their ranks, according to BILD.

A recent injury to Juan Bernat has caused Bayern to re-think their options, and Toljan is seen as a bargain addition.

Spurs had been previously cited by the newspaper as leading the race for the Germany under-21 international.

Toljan, 22, is a right-back who Tottenham had been lining up as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker.

BILD report Bayern consider Toljan available to cover at both left-back and right-back, although his path to the first team would be far from clear.

David Alaba will be their first choice left-back and Joshua Kimmich will compete at right-back.

Toljan would not find it easy at Tottenham either, with Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters battling for the right-back spot.

His best chance of playing regularly may be to stick it out at Hoffenheim for another season, although with just one year left on his contract it is likely his club will cash in.
