German newspaper Bild may have just handed Everton a huge transfer boost after reporting that left-back Juan Bernat is one of four Bayern first-teamers on the transfer list.

The Liverpool Echo reported last month that 26-year-old Bayern left-back Bernat is just one name being considered by Marco Silva and Marcel Brands, with the Toffees yet to complete a signing this summer.

Seven-time Spain international Bernat struggled to have an impact with the German champions last season, playing only 12 times in all competitions. Now, he faces an uncertain future with only a year left on his contract.

Bild’s report claims the former Valencia star is one of four players on the chopping block at Bayern, with Jerome Boateng, Thiago and Arturo Vidal also being shown the exit door by new manager Niko Kovac.

Everton are in desperate need of a left-back, with Leighton Baines’ injury last season showing that they have little cover on the left side of defence. Cuco Martina was forced to play there, but he struggled at times.

With Baines not getting any younger and already being linked with a potential move to the MLS, Everton need one and maybe even two new left-sided defenders. The news about Bernat, then, could come as a huge transfer boost.
