According to Bild, Bayern Munich have decided that they don’t want to cash in on David Alaba in January, which means they run the risk of losing the Liverpool target for nothing in the summer.
90min recently revealed that the Austria international is interested in a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Manchester City keen on signing him.
The centre-back’s contract at the Allianz Arena expires at the end of the season.
While some clubs might prefer to cash in, Bild state that the German champions aren’t concerned over acquiring a fee.
Bild‘s report states that Hansi Flick wants to keep the 28-year-old for as long as he possibly can, and a January exit for the defender has been ‘internally excluded’ by the Bavarians.
That isn’t necessarily a blow to Jurgen Klopp. It simply means that he might have to wait a little longer to land the Wien-born Champions League winner.
Bild also confirm that Bayern Munich withdrew their contract offer to Alaba, so his future with the Bundesliga giants truly is up in the air.
The six-time Bundesliga champion is arguably one of the best defenders in Europe.
His services are certainly worth waiting for if he is to be available for nothing in the summer.
