According to The Telegraph, Bayern Munich have made a shock approach to sign Reading defender Omar Richards.

It’s claimed that Bayern have scouted Richards extensively, and have now informed Reading that they’re planning to speak to him.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement to join Bayern.

Reading allegedly haven’t even made Richards an offer to stay at the Madejski Stadium, and he could now head to Germany.

Bayern seemingly view Richards as cover and competition for Canadian star Alphonso Davies, and given that he is a bargain basement signing, the German giants seem ready to pounce.

The news could be a blow to a couple of Premier League sides, as the Daily Mail report that Everton are keen on signing Richards.

Add in that the Reading Chronicle claim that Crystal Palace and West Ham United also want to sign Richards, and it looks like there could be a real battle for his signature.

Bayern look to be favourites for the attacking left back though, which would leave the likes of Everton and West Ham to look elsewhere.
