Bayern Munich do not want to sell Everton target Juan Bernat in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail (Transfer live blog, 15:57, Thursday, January 18, 2018).

It has been reported that Everton have made an enquiry for the 24-year-old Spain international left-back, who can also operate as a winger.

However, according to the report, German and European giants Bayern do not want to lose Bernat, as they want to keep him as cover for David Alaba.

Bernat has been on the books of Bayern since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Spanish club Valencia for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £7.9 million.

The Spaniard was signed by Pep Guardiola – now the manager of Manchester City – when he was in charge of Bayern.

The 24-year-old is a versatile footballer who would be a good signing for Everton, but given Bayern’s (reported) stance of not selling him in the January transfer window, the Toffees may have to look elsewhere for a left-back.
