Bayern Munich have given up hope of signing reported Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Florian Neuhaus because of Borussia Monchengladbach’s £40 million asking price, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
FC Hollywood are no strangers to raiding Bundesliga rivals for the most talented young players in the German game.
But fortunately for Gladbach – and the rest of Germany’s top flight – arguably the country’s finest up-and-coming midfielder won’t be heading to the Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window.
Bayern are big fans of Neuhaus, a skilful attacking midfielder who scored a brilliant long-range goal against Hansi Flick’s side during a famous 3-2 Gladbach win earlier this season.
However, with the reigning European Champions under pressure to spend sensibly in an era of massive financial uncertainty, TMW reports Bayern won’t pay the £40 million required for the five-time Germany international.
And that may open the door for a trio of Premier League clubs.
According to Kicker in February, Neuhaus’ sparkling displays have caught the eye of Liverpool and Manchester City. Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old (Sport1).
And if north London is indeed Neuhaus’ destination, the sudden departure of Jose Mourinho this week may just work in his favour.
The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Erik ten Hag and Marcelino, who have all been linked with the Spurs job this week, look far better suited to getting the best out of a floating, almost ethereal playmaker with a touch of the Mesut Ozils about him.
