According to The Telegraph, Bayern Munich are halting contract talks with youngster Jamal Musiala.

It’s claimed that Musiala can only sign a maximum of a three-year deal right now due to FIFA rules about under-18 players.

Bayern subsequently want to wait until Musiala turns 18 on February 26th to restart contract talks in the hope of giving him a longer deal.

The Stuttgart-born teenager – who is an England Under-21 international – has hit three goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances this term.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Liverpool and Manchester City both want to sign Musiala, in the hope of luring him to England.

That could be appealing to Musiala if he picks an international future with England, but Bayern are allegedly willing to offer £100,000-a-week to keep him.

The delay in talks may just give Liverpool and City hope of swooping in for Musiala, but time isn’t really on their side.

If they want him before Bayern can restart talks, they would have to bid before Monday’s transfer deadline – and that seems unlikely, meaning his future is likely still to be with Bayern as things stand.
