Jeremie Frimpong is a £25 million target for Bayern Munich just 14 months after swapping Scottish giants Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen, as reported by Sport1.
It didn’t take Frimpong long to remind Celtic just what they were missing.
The jet-heeled Dutchman returned to Glasgow in September. And his sparkling performance, as Leverkusen tore Ange Postecoglou’s still shape-shifting defence apart and cruised to a 4-0 win at Parkhead, merely added insult to injury as far as the home supporters were concerned.
It was the sort of performance Leverkusen fans have come to expect from Frimpong since he arrived at the Bay Arena in January 2021.
With two goals and an impressive eight assists in just 31 matches, the Amsterdam-born 21-year-old could be a better fit for Gerardo Seoane’s ferocious, counter-attacking approach.
“He’s technically strong, incredibly fast and is an attack-minded player,” Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes tells the Bundesliga website.
“He has huge potential.”
How far can Jeremie Frimpong go?
It already feels unlikely that Frimpong will see out the three-and-a-half remaining years of his Leverkusen contract.
Barcelona approached the youngster’s camp regarding a potential switch to the Camp Nou recently. Borussia Dortmund are keen too.
As are perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann sees Frimpong as an attacking alternative to the more defensively-minded Benjamin Pavard at the Allianz Arena.

There are other interested suitors in Spain and England, with the one-time Manchester City starlet potentially in line for a return to the Premier League.
How much will Frimpong cost?
Few at Celtic will be shocked to see Frimpong put pen to paper with one of the biggest clubs on the continent, even if the speed of his development in Germany may take some by surprise.
There aren’t many young full-backs in Europe more exciting than a player who, at just £300,000, may be the best pound-for-pound signing in Celtic’s recent history.
“You can see what a player Frimpong is. He’s one of the best kids I’ve ever seen at that age,” former Hoops boss Neil Lennon told The Sun.
“I’m just delighted what he brings to the game – defensively, offensively and the end product. He’s an outstanding talent.”
