Newcastle United are set to sign Monaco’s Antonio Barreca.

According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Monaco left back Antonio Barreca will undergo a medical with Newcastle United today ahead of completing his move.
The Magpies picked up a shock win over Manchester City on Tuesday night, and there is real hope that a strong end to the season could be on the horizon.
Despite that win, Newcastle still need reinforcements before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, and there may be some new signings on the way at long last.
The Chronicle report that Newcastle’s top target, Atlanta United star Miguel Almiron, is finally heading to Tyneside and will undergo a medical ahead of his big move.
There will seemingly be another medical taking place today, as Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Monaco defender Barreca will also have his medical.
The 23-year-old left back will sign on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent move, offering Benitez competition for Paul Dummett.

Barreca was highly rated in Italy, but has struggled for playing time with Monaco, making just seven league appearances, and he hasn’t played at all in nearly three months.
After a deal for Jordan Lukaku fell through, Barreca became the priority left back for Benitez, and it looks like he has got his man with a day to spare.
