Scowen has been linked with a string of Premier League and Championship clubs, including Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town
Barnsley’s Josh Scowen
Out of contract Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen is ‘likely’ to choose Queens Park Rangers over Huddersfield Town, according to The Sun.
Scowen has already informed Barnsley of his decision to leave Oakwell at the end of the month, and looks set to remain in the Championship despite reported interest from Premier League newcomers – and the Tykes’ local rivals – Huddersfield.
A string of second tier clubs, including Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, have been credited with interest in the 24-year-old, however, the pair now appear to out of the running to sign him with QPR the expected beneficiaries.
QPR have released Karl Henry this summer, and Scowen, who impressed in his maiden Championship campaign last term, could be the ideal candidate to replace the veteran former R’s captain.

The Cheshunt native began his career at Wycombe Wanderers, where he played with and worked under Loftus Road legend Gareth Ainsworth.
Huddersfield continue to be linked with a move for Reading midfielder Danny Williams, who is also available on a free transfer.
